The Aotearoa Maori team highlighted the importance of their trip to Fiji by celebrating an impressive 75-29 victory over the Fiji Under-18 team in their first match on Saturday.

Head coach Ngarama Milner-Olsen praised the opportunity for her young players to gain invaluable international experience while competing on foreign soil.

It highlights the impact of such experiences on the development of their skills and aspirations for the future.

“It’s always an honor to be here in Fiji; we are a really young team and it is extremely important for us to support our girls in their future volleyball aspirations.

He adds that their vision is to continue to provide opportunities for young volleyball players overseas and in New Zealand.

The two teams will meet again tonight at 6:30 p.m. for the second game of a three-game series.
