The Sharjah Police General Command has announced a significant reduction in the number of road accidents and related fatalities in the first half of 2024, as detailed in a statistical report published by the Department of Traffic and Patrols.

The report shows a 15 percent drop in fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the same period last year, with a 9 percent drop in road accidents per 10,000 vehicles.

The noteworthy increase is due to rigorous road campaigns conducted by the Department of Traffic and Patrols, together with its strategic partners, to improve road safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Sharjah Police Traffic and Patrol Division, highlighted the department’s commitment to increasing road safety awareness, emphasizing that road safety is the responsibility of drivers and all road users. He stressed the importance of road awareness in promoting safety and minimizing fatal and serious accidents, which will ultimately contribute to safer roads for all.

He urged drivers and road users to obey traffic regulations, obey speed limits, minimize distractions while driving and be alert to unexpected road conditions.
