Two workers were killed and two others injured after an under-construction house collapsed on them in Madanpur near Khanjhawala on the outskirts of Delhi on Sunday evening, fire brigade officials said.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Ram Chandra and Rajkumar, both in their 30s.

Delhi Fire Service (DFS) chief Atul Garg said he was informed about the house collapse in Meer Vihar, Madanpur at 5.40 p.m. Five fire brigades and rescue teams were sent to the site. According to the police, the rescue operation carried out by firefighters, police and local residents lasted until late at night.

Four injured workers were pulled out from under the rubble and taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Garg added that two of them died in the hospital and two are currently undergoing treatment.
