Outdoor smoking safety: Please follow Ontario regulations

As fall approaches, aviation, fire and emergency services are urging residents to exercise caution during any outdoor fires. Where possible, use alternatives such as composting or landfilling garden waste. If you must burn, follow the regulations:

  • Fires must be started no earlier than two hours before sunset and extinguished within two hours after sunrise.
  • Always have the right tools and water with you to stop a fire.

Check out Ontario Outdoor burning regulations AND safe burning tips for more information.

Drone-free zone: protect areas affected by forest fires

Flying drones near forest fires is both dangerous and illegal. Drones pose a threat to pilots, firefighters and other emergency responders. Stay away from forest fire zones.

Water bombers: keep a safe distance for safety

If you see a water bomber approaching a lake or river, move close to the shore. Water bombers will not draw if there are boats or vessels nearby that pose a safety risk. Stay safe, stay clean.
