The bodies of men were recovered from the plane that crashed into Utah Lake

PROVO, Utah – The bodies of two men have been found aboard a single-engine plane that crashed Friday over Utah Lake.

Authorities said the Cirrus SR22 plane had been cleared to land at the Provo airport when it plunged into the water around 10 a.m.

In the evening, the bodies of both men were found. Because the plane was in about 8 1/2 feet of water, crews had initial trouble getting the water out.

The pilot was identified as Michael Hyrum Cox, 43, of St. George, and the passenger was 46-year-old Mark Andrew Johnson from Washington, father of six children.
